Ubisoft kicks off the year with a release from one of its’ most successful franchises latest game. Yes! I’m talking about Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD as you knew from the title entry.

Let’s begin by taking a look at the story.

The year is 1765. While the seeds of the American Revolution are being sewn in Boston and New York, Spanish forces in the South plot to seize control of Louisiana for the Templars, threatening to forever shift the balance of power in the New World. As Templars secretly take hold of the slave trade in New Orleans, Aveline de Grandpré, an assassin of mixed French and African heritage, stands ready to defend her people. She soon finds herself on an unforgettable journey that will take her from the crowded streets of New Orléans to voodoo-haunted swamps and ancient Mayan ruins. Whether eliminating her enemies with new assassination skills or luring them into cunning traps, Aveline strikes mortal fear into the hearts of those who would stand against freedom.

As interesting as the story comes off it is doesn’t flow as entertaining during the actual gameplay. I’m not saying the story is bad because it has its moment of “no they didn’t” to draw you in to care about the characters that are involved. The problem is that at time it feels as the acting liked emotion which drew away from the strength the storyline should have had.

The presentation comes off pretty well from what you would expect from a PS Vita remake and maybe even a little further beyond that. The graphics look pretty enough to redeem the name of Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD. Sound is very fitting and what you would expect from this infamous franchise.

Where this game shines is in the key features. It isn’t just about being able to play as a female character either. The thing I loved the most is how the game is designed to make a lot of progress in quick play sessions. Wonderful unique weapons and smooth flowing combat for your eyes and hands to love. The game is great for newcomers to learn the gameplay of Assassin’s Creed and learn about the connections of Templar in the New World. From deep diving to land or sea Aveline makes a good mark in the franchise.
