Echo Park, California-based creative production company iam8bit, in association with Drake’s management company October’s Very Own, Young Money Entertainment and legendary video game publisher Capcom, “Drake VS Lil Wayne” summer tour Fans “Button Mash” their way to a tie 6-6…for now. “DvsLW” allows fans to select their city, pick their side (Drake or Lil Wayne) and “button mash” just like they would in the recently released Ultra Street Fighter® IV videogame, to “power up” either Drake or Wayne’s onstage power meters, affecting the course of the musical performances in real time.
The tour will run through September 27th with a final show in Woodlands, Texas. Not only can app users participate in the trajectory of the performance, but they can customize photos taken at the events with special stickers, featuring October’s Very Own, Young Money, and Street Fighter® iconography, which can be applied to the user’s own photos and shared via social media.
Amanda White and Jon Gibson of iam8bit stated, “What we’re doing with this app is pretty revolutionary in the concert space. The real-time audience participation element will insert fans into the evening, allowing them to personally affect the outcome of the on stage battle between Drake and Lil Wayne. Artists don’t do this sort of thing for their fans very often, so we think we are out in front of improving the interactive concert and overall fan experience for this show.”
Lil Wayne and Drake added, “We are both thrilled that our fans will get this unique opportunity to join us in this interactive experience.”
The app is available in Google Play for Android and the App Store for iPhone/iOS under “Drake VS Lil Wayne”. Tickets for the tour are available via TicketMaster.
