ADG Short And Simple Review: Never Alone

NEVERALONEREVIEWHEADER

There aren’t many moments in gaming when a game comes to us and gives us culture, art, and entertainment. Never Alone does all those things. Educating us gamers with imagery of Alaska Native cultures, Never Alone brings us one of the most unique games this year.

Play as a young Inupiat girl, Nuna and her new found artic fox friend to find out the source of an eternal blizzard that threatens the life she has grown to know. You can play single player or cooperatively locally through the frozen lands of Alaska with this awesome team.

The gameplay is that of a puzzle platformer. The game does a great job of teaching you how to solve puzzles while giving you progressively harder challenges at a nice pace.

I spoke on how Never Alone teaches us culture. They do it not only through the game’s story and gameplay but through “Cultural Insights”. Cultural Insights are behind the scenes video documentaries that teach you Alaskan culture and concepts that inspired the game. These insights are maybe as entertaining as the game itself.
