So, I didn’t personally watch the Esports Championship Series finals but I’m happy to congratulate the team of wonderful gamers Astralis for their big win tonight. Check out all the press info, images, and video highlights below.

The Esports Championship Series (ECS) Season 2 Finals concluded tonight after three straight days of intensely competitive rounds of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, with Danish superstars Astralis winning the $250,000 grand prize and the title of ECS Season 2 Champions.

In a rematch of the ELEAGUE Finals last week, Astralis and OpTic Gaming went head-to-head in an epic showdown that saw the Danish powerhouse avenge their defeat against OpTic, the new North American superstars. With elite plays from the team’s star player Nicolai “Dev1ce” Reedtz, and in-game leadership from Lukas “Gla1ve” Rossander, Astralis’ victory was never in doubt as the team romped through the finals, taking the Overpass map 16-6 and then Train 16-11, for a 2-0 win. Astralis follows in the footsteps of French superstars G2 Esports as another European team has reached the pinnacle of the ECS through epic plays and teamwork to be crowned ECS Season 2 Champions.

Teams that took part in Season Two of the ECS league earned all the benefits of Season One participants, including co-ownership in the league and the opportunity to select representation on the league’s governing committee. The ECS provided a collective $1.75M for Season Two that went towards the league’s prize pool and supportive funds to help bolster player stability. This includes helping organizations provide better salaries, facilities and equipment that will improve the overall conditions and welfare for players, while furnishing the ecosystem of the ECS with a more structured framework to operate within.
