It’s official WWE 2K21 is canceled. I don’t have much to say. I expected it for many reasons which I will shortly explain below.
As for the official statement, it came from WWE Interim Chief Financial Officer Frank Riddick who stated:
“There’s not going to be a launch of a game this year”
, during WWE’s first-quarter earnings call when he was asked if there was going to be a new WWE game.
2K hasn’t said much either but gave this statement on Twitter:
We will be sharing details on the future of the WWE 2K franchise as well as some exciting news on Monday at 7:00 a.m. PT.

As for me, this is nothing of a surprise. With WWE 2K20 being plagued with tons of problems and unfixable bugs it’s been nothing but bad press and sales for them. Add in the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic making it hard on all businesses including WWE and I’m sure 2K as well; this was bound to happen.
We can only hope now that we will get something great such as WWE All-Stars 2 in the meanwhile or at the least finally and upgrade on WWE 2K20 in the form of a yearly expansion and DLC of some sort. That would be cool too.
